10 Best Free Proxy Sites (No Signup): Web Proxies and Lists
Proxy-Seller

The best free proxy sites for most people are hide.me's web proxy, ProxySite.com and KProxy, all usable in a browser with nothing to install. Hide.me leads because Top10VPN reports no ads and no logs of your real IP, and a named VPN company makes it. ProxySite.com suits US or EU servers, KProxy is the ad-free backup per Top10VPN, and 4everproxy lets you pick a country. IPFighter's guide says CroxyProxy handles video pages. Proxyium connects in one click, and IPFighter itself adds a WebRTC block. For raw IP:port proxies, start with Geonode's free proxy list.

A free proxy site, often called a web proxy, is a web page with an address box. You paste a link, its server fetches the page, and that website records the server's IP instead of yours, which masks your address for that page alone. Our primer on how a middleman server works covers the mechanics. This list ranks seven web proxies first, then three free proxy lists that publish IP:port addresses for manual setup.

Every pick comes with its catch, because a free site pays its bills with ads or upsells, and many keep logs. Each fact below names its source, and placement here cannot be bought. TrustMyIP takes no commission on any link in this guide. Stay signed out on any of them, and use the five self-checks toward the end to test a site on your own device.

Christopher Vance, Web Infrastructure Specialist, ranking the best free proxy sites for TrustMyIP.com
Author: Christopher Vance Web Infrastructure Specialist
Over a decade of my work in Chicago has gone into how websites weigh the address a visitor arrives from. Seen from that side, a free web proxy stands out at once: crowds of strangers share one exit, so many sites flag it on sight. That is why I rank these sites first on what they keep about you, before ads or reliability.
This ranking comes from reading, not from my own browsing: no traffic of mine or TrustMyIP's passed through these sites. I finished it on November 2, 2026, working from reviews, store listings, published policies, security scans and four peer-reviewed studies of free proxies. Where sources disagree, I show both figures, as with ProxySite's 14 or 24 days of IP logs.

Quick Answer: Free Proxy Sites Worth Using

Hide.me's web proxy is the best free proxy site for most people: no signup, no ads and, per Top10VPN, no logs of your real IP. ProxySite.com suits US or EU servers, KProxy is the ad-free backup per Top10VPN, and 4everproxy lets you choose a country. For IP:port proxies, Geonode's free proxy list has the most filters we found, though most free entries fail.

The 10 Best Free Proxy Sites at a Glance

Here are the seven web proxies in ranked order, each with the job it suits and its biggest drawback.

Web Proxy Best For Main Catch
Hide.me web proxy Lightest logging on record, no ads Only three server locations, all in Europe
ProxySite.com US and EU servers Pop-up ads; keeps your IP for 14 or 24 days
KProxy An ad-free backup to hide.me Logs IPs; frequent server overloads
4everproxy Picking the exit country Logs your IP; intrusive ads
CroxyProxy Video and social pages Logs the pages you open; no server choice
Proxyium One click, nearest server picked for you Keeps IPs and URLs for a month or more
IPFighter Free Web Proxy WebRTC blocking and time zone options Logs URLs and IPs; random country only

Places 8 to 10 go to free proxy lists: Geonode for filters and exports, ProxyScrape for large lists that refresh often, and Free Proxy List for HTTPS-ready addresses.

Ranking free proxy sites starts with what each one keeps about you, since the operator can see every page you open through it. For the seven web proxies, we weighed four published facts. They are what the site logs, whether a company is named, whether it shows ads, and how reliably reviewers say pages load.

Logging counts most. ProxySite edges KProxy on that count: Top10VPN reports it deletes your IP after 14 or 24 days, but gives no deletion window for KProxy. KProxy's company is named only on its extensions, so its lead on ownership is slim. For the lists, protocols and filters weigh most, since you choose an address by protocol and country.

All seven web proxies drew visits in September 2026 by Semrush's estimate, though hide.me's figure covers its whole site. Geonode and Free Proxy List showed same-day update stamps when we read them on November 2, 2026.

How we built this list

We read every source between October 31 and November 2, 2026. The main one is Top10VPN's guide to proxy sites, which shows no date, says it tested over 30 sites and carries a VPN affiliate disclosure. TechRadar's list of February 9, 2026, store listings, policies, MalwareTips and PCRisk scans and Semrush estimates add the rest. Where a site's own policy could not be retrieved, its logging terms come from those reviewers. We rank free public tools only, not free trials or free tiers of paid proxy plans, and TrustMyIP did not test any site itself.

The 7 Best Free Web Proxy Sites: Pros, Cons and Logs

These free proxy websites open in a normal browser tab: type the address, paste a link, and the page loads through the site's server. None of our sources says any of them needs an account. We do not link them, because lookalike domains circulate, so type each address yourself. They differ in what they log, who stands behind them and how many ads you sit through.

1. Hide.me Web Proxy: Best Free Proxy Site Overall

Hide.me's free web proxy comes from the hide.me VPN brand, which Top10VPN's review, updated July 10, 2026, places with eVenture Ltd in Malaysia. Top10VPN's proxy guide says it "Doesn't keep any logs" and "doesn't log your real IP address", while the same page's table reads "Virtually no-logs". It reports HTTPS to the proxy and no ads.

Servers sit in the Netherlands, Germany and Finland, per TechRadar's list of February 9, 2026. Top10VPN's table marks URL encryption as available, and TechRadar and Experte describe switches for page encryption, scripts, objects and cookies. TechRadar warns those switches can stop a page loading. Top10VPN found it "Sometimes struggled" with YouTube.

Where it wins

  • From a named VPN company, eVenture Ltd
  • No ads, per Top10VPN
  • No logs of your real IP, per Top10VPN
  • URL encryption plus script and cookie switches
  • HTTPS between you and the proxy, per Top10VPN

Where it falls short

  • Only three locations, all in Europe
  • No-logs wording that shifts within one review page
  • Reported trouble with YouTube
  • Extra privacy switches can break pages

Best for: reading public pages from a European IP with the lightest logging on record, signed out. Type hide.me/en/proxy yourself.

2. ProxySite.com: Best for US and EU Servers

ProxySite.com is one of the oldest names here: a MalwareTips scan dated June 15, 2026 shows the domain registered on January 2, 2001. A WHOIS privacy service hides the owner, and no source we read names one. Top10VPN's text counts "20 US server locations", labeled 1 to 20, though its table lists 2. Experte, undated, adds EU servers.

On logs, Top10VPN's text says ProxySite keeps your IP address and "deletes it automatically after 14 days", while its table says 24 days. It also reports "Annoying popup ads". Experte describes switches that block cookies, scripts and page objects. PCRisk's scan of October 9, 2026 rated the domain "Moderate Risk", with 2 of 92 engines flagging it.

Where it wins

  • Domain registered in 2001, per MalwareTips
  • Numbered US servers, plus EU options
  • Cookie, script and object switches
  • HTTPS (SSL, TLS 1.3) in the June 2026 scan
  • 12.02 million visits in September 2026, per Semrush

Where it falls short

  • Owner hidden behind WHOIS privacy
  • Keeps your IP for 14 or 24 days, depending on the line you read
  • Pop-up ads
  • "Moderate Risk" in PCRisk's October 2026 scan
  • A copycat, proxysite.one, rated "Dangerous" in a June 2026 MalwareTips scan

Best for: seeing a public page as a US or EU visitor would. Type proxysite.com yourself, and never the .one lookalike.

3. KProxy: Best Ad-Free Backup to Hide.me

KProxy's Chrome and Firefox extensions name Sumalab Digital SL, of San Sebastián de los Reyes near Madrid, as their publisher, though no source we read confirms that firm runs kproxy.com. Top10VPN found "No ads" and HTTPS support, but also lists "Logs IP addresses" among its cons. SoftwareTestingHelp, updated October 15, 2026, calls KProxy ad-supported, so the no-ads finding may not hold. Its servers carry only the label "KProxy Public Server", so you cannot see where you exit.

Reliability is the weak point. Top10VPN reports that KProxy "Takes multiple attempts to connect" and "Experiences regular server overloads". Its Firefox add-on's privacy policy lists your IP, browser, time zone and Wi-Fi network name among the data it collects. It sets no end date for data collected automatically. Semrush estimates about 55,000 visits in September 2026, up from about 31,000 in July.

Where it wins

  • A company and a Spanish address on its extensions
  • No ads, per Top10VPN
  • HTTPS support
  • URL encryption, per Top10VPN's table

Where it falls short

  • Logs IP addresses, per Top10VPN
  • An add-on policy that collects your Wi-Fi network name
  • Repeated connection attempts and overloads
  • No server location shown

Best for: ad-free reading of a public page when you can wait for a free server. Type kproxy.com yourself.

4. 4everproxy: Best for Picking an Exit Country

No free web proxy here covers more countries on record than 4everproxy. Top10VPN counts "12 proxy servers covering nine countries", with US servers in New York, Virginia and Las Vegas. It says you can set the server and the IP location separately. Elsewhere the same guide credits it with IPs in 18 countries. It also lists HTTPS support and a warrant canary, a notice whose removal would hint at a demand for data.

No source we read names who runs it. Top10VPN says it "Logs your IP address", describes "Intrusive & persistent ads" and says the site does not work well with an ad blocker. YouTube links go to Invidious, an alternative YouTube front end. IPFighter's guide, updated August 19, 2026 and written by a rival web proxy, says its shared datacenter IPs can trigger CAPTCHAs on stricter sites.

Where it wins

  • Nine countries or more, per Top10VPN
  • Server and IP location chosen separately
  • HTTPS support
  • A warrant canary

Where it falls short

  • No operator named
  • Logs your IP address
  • Intrusive ads, and trouble with ad blockers
  • YouTube links diverted to Invidious
  • CAPTCHAs on stricter sites

Best for: checking how a public page looks from a particular country. Type 4everproxy.com yourself.

5. CroxyProxy: Best for Video and Social Pages

CroxyProxy is the most visited web proxy here, at 32.73 million visits in September 2026 by Semrush's estimate. Top10VPN says it "worked with every site we tested" and rates it best for fast browsing. IPFighter's guide reports that it copes with YouTube, Facebook and Gmail, and CroxyProxy's own store listing makes the same pitch.

The price is privacy. Top10VPN reports that it "logs your IP address, ISP, timestamps, and the web pages you access". The free version is "riddled with ads", caps download size and gives no server choice; Top10VPN always got a Polish IP. Its Chrome listing, updated September 8, 2025, names no developer and states, "This developer has not identified itself as a trader."

Where it wins

  • Loaded every site Top10VPN tried
  • Handles video and social pages, per IPFighter's guide
  • HTTPS support
  • A shareable permalink for a proxied page

Where it falls short

  • Logs your IP, ISP, times and pages
  • Heavy ads and a download cap
  • No server choice in the free version
  • No operator named
  • Mirror domains such as croxyproxy.rocks, ownership unconfirmed

Best for: video and social pages you would not mind its operator seeing. Type croxyproxy.com yourself.

6. Proxyium: Best for One-Click Browsing

Proxyium picks the nearest of its servers for you, so there is nothing to set. Top10VPN reports servers in eight countries, HTTPS support and "Regular popup ads", and Semrush estimates 8.83 million visits in September 2026. A Plisio review dated April 23, 2026 lists Poland, France, the USA, Singapore and Germany among them.

Logging is heavier than at the top picks. Top10VPN says Proxyium keeps your "IP address & URLs accessed for a month". Plisio, quoting its policy, puts server logs at up to 60 days. No source we read names an operator. Plisio adds that standard-definition YouTube plays, while 4K video and some script-heavy apps may break.

Where it wins

  • Servers in eight countries
  • Connects to the nearest server automatically
  • HTTPS support
  • Standard-definition video plays, per Plisio

Where it falls short

  • Keeps your IP and URLs for 30 to 60 days
  • No operator named
  • Pop-up ads
  • Heavier web apps may break

Best for: a one-click look at a public page, with nothing to set. Type proxyium.com yourself.

7. IPFighter Free Web Proxy: Best for WebRTC and Time Zone Options

IPFighter, a free IP-tools site, offers a web proxy with a switch to block WebRTC, a browser feature that can reveal your real IP. Further switches spoof your time zone and language. Its page says each session exits through a home IP address, a residential claim that no outside source we found confirms. No signup is needed, and the only location option is "Random country".

Its privacy policy, effective July 1, 2026, keeps "the URLs you request, timestamps, and the IP address used" for "a limited period", with no length given. The terms place it under the laws of Vietnam, and no legal company name appears. Partner banners advertise paid proxy sellers. PCRisk's scan of November 1, 2026 rated the domain "Moderate Risk", with 3 of 92 engines flagging it.

Where it wins

  • WebRTC block plus time zone and language switches
  • No signup or download
  • Sessions cleared when they end, per its page
  • 477,160 visits in September 2026, up from 167,420 in July (Semrush)

Where it falls short

  • Logs URLs, timestamps and IPs for an unstated time
  • Home IP exits claimed but not verified
  • Random country only
  • No legal company named
  • Its own comparison guide ranks it first

Best for: a proxy session with WebRTC blocked and your time zone and language spoofed. Type ipfighter.com yourself.

Free proxy websites we left off

VPNBook sits on Top10VPN's avoid list, which says it "Logs your real IP address." Megaproxy and PlainProxies share that list. Top10VPN reports HMA's proxy offline since July 2023 and Hidester discontinued in April 2022, though some lists of the best proxy sites still name both. Cloudwards described Whoer's free proxy as a browser extension in February 2024. Proxysite.one is a typosquat, and ProxyOrb pitches getting past school and work filters, which this guide does not cover.

Best Free Proxy Lists for HTTP and SOCKS5 Proxies

A free proxy list is a different product: a table of public proxy server addresses and ports that you type into an app, a browser's network settings or a device. These lists suit people who need a proxy address rather than a page in a box. If you want proxies for code, our guide to free proxies for scraping jobs covers that use.

Expect most entries on any list to fail. A 30-month study found an average of 3.36% of free proxies working per test run; it and two earlier studies follow the picks.

8. Geonode Free Proxy List: Best for Filters and Exports

Geonode's free list comes from Geonode PTE LTD of Singapore, a seller of paid proxies. Its table covers HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS4 and SOCKS5 proxies. You can filter by country, protocol, anonymity, speed, uptime and whether Google answers, then export TXT or CSV or pull the list through an API link.

The page says "Entries are checked every minute" and warns: "Free lists contain public proxies with no uptime guarantee." Its totals clashed when we read it on November 2, 2026: 9,842 proxies online in one spot, "9,800+" in its description and "~5,000 rotating" in a comparison table.

Geonode leads on filters, not on hit rate. A published test by HasData, itself a proxy seller, found 17 of 400 Geonode entries answered; its page was updated August 28, 2026. ProxyScrape and Free Proxy List entries answered far more often in that test.

Where it wins

  • Four protocols, SOCKS5 included
  • The most filters of any list we read
  • TXT, CSV and API exports
  • A named company and plain safety warnings

Where it falls short

  • Conflicting proxy totals on one page
  • Few entries answered in HasData's test
  • Upsells to paid plans throughout
  • Its paid side sells "Sneaker Proxies" for checkout bots (read November 2026)

Best for: finding a SOCKS5 or HTTPS address in a given country for a quick manual test. Type geonode.com/free-proxy-list yourself.

9. ProxyScrape: Best for Large, Fast-Refreshing Lists

ProxyScrape, also a paid proxy seller, mirrors its free list in a GitHub repository that describes "~22k proxies across 90+ countries" refreshed every 5 minutes. It offers HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS4 and SOCKS5, with TXT, JSON and CSV downloads. These facts come from that repository, read November 2, 2026.

ProxyScrape is unusually blunt about the risk. Its README says of free proxies: "They are not safe." It adds, "Anyone can run a proxy that logs your traffic, injects content, or hijacks sessions." In HasData's published test, 140 of 400 ProxyScrape entries returned the real page.

Where it wins

  • Four protocols in one list
  • A five-minute refresh, per its repository
  • TXT, JSON and CSV downloads
  • Candid warnings about the risks

Where it falls short

  • No legal company or country found
  • About one entry in three worked in HasData's test
  • Shared by many users at once, per IPFighter's guide
  • Upsells to paid proxies

Best for: pulling a fresh batch of addresses into a proxy checker that weeds out the dead ones. Search GitHub for proxyscrape/free-proxy-list.

10. Free Proxy List: Best for a Quick HTTPS-Ready List

Free-proxy-list.net comes from Didsoft Ltd, whose terms fall under Hong Kong law, and it sells paid proxy plans beside the free table. When we read it on November 2, 2026, it showed "Total 1545 IPs in 1288 Subnets in 95 Countries". Columns mark whether each proxy supports HTTPS and passes Google, and a "Get raw list" link shows every address as plain text.

Freshness claims vary on the page: 10 and 20 minutes for the free list, and 30 minutes for its paid lists. Didsoft calls its free proxies "unstable and usually slow", and its FAQ says they are public datacenter proxies shared with other users. The main table holds HTTP and HTTPS proxies only, with SOCKS on a separate page. HasData's test found 108 of 300 working.

Where it wins

  • A named company and governing law
  • HTTPS and Google columns on every row
  • A plain-text list of every address
  • An update stamp from the day we visited

Where it falls short

  • Two different refresh claims for the free list
  • No SOCKS proxies in the main table
  • Called "unstable and usually slow" by its own operator
  • Heavy upsells

Best for: grabbing an HTTPS-capable address for a browser test. Type free-proxy-list.net yourself.

List sites differ most in the protocols they carry and in how often they say they refresh. Each refresh claim appears in the site's own words or a close summary.

List Site Protocols Refresh Claim
Geonode HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS4, SOCKS5 "Entries are checked every minute"
ProxyScrape HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS4, SOCKS5 "refreshed every 5 minutes" (GitHub list)
Free Proxy List HTTP and HTTPS; SOCKS on another page 10 or 20 minutes; paid lists 30
ProxyNova (not ranked) Not stated "updated once every 60 seconds"
FreeProxy.World (not ranked) HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS4, SOCKS5 filters Not stated

ProxyNova and FreeProxy.World stay off the ranking. ProxyNova's list page offers no protocol column, no export and no safety warning. FreeProxy.World showed the biggest count when we read it on November 2, 2026: "Found 51220 proxies". Yet its FAQ says, "We have absolutely zero control over any of these proxy servers." It also says, "USE OUR DATABASE AT YOUR OWN RISK."

Spys.one, HideMy.name and Proxifly turn up on other lists too. AIMultiple calls Spys.one's interface dense, and ScraperAPI calls it not user-friendly. Two guides agree that HideMy.name charges to export its list. Proxifly's GitHub page claimed 46,858 working proxies on October 4, 2026, while ScraperAPI's October 2026 snapshot showed 2,785.

The research on public lists is sobering. A Georgetown-led team at ACSAC 2018 found "more than 92%" of over 107,000 listed open proxies did not respond. At NDSS 2018, researchers from FORTH and partner universities found 38.21% of working proxies altered page content; of the malicious ones, 47% injected ads.

The third, a MADWeb 2024 study, tracked over 640,600 free proxies from 11 sources for 30 months, Geonode, ProxyScrape and Free Proxy List among them. It found that average of 3.36% working per run and 16,923 proxies that altered content, mostly through misconfiguration rather than malice, the authors say.

Server Locations: Which Countries Free Proxy Sites Offer

Many readers choose a free proxy site for its countries, and those change without notice. Here is what each source reported for the seven web proxies, with its date.

Web Proxy Servers Reported Source and Date
Hide.me Netherlands, Germany, Finland TechRadar, February 9, 2026
ProxySite.com Numbered US servers, plus EU Top10VPN and Experte, both undated
KProxy Shown only as "KProxy Public Server" Top10VPN, read November 2026
4everproxy A dozen servers across several countries, three US cities Top10VPN, read November 2026
CroxyProxy No choice in the free version; Poland seen Top10VPN, read November 2026
Proxyium Poland, France, USA, Singapore, Germany seen Plisio, April 23, 2026
IPFighter "Random country" only Its proxy page, November 2026

Most named locations sit in Europe and North America. For a US address, ProxySite.com's numbered US servers and 4everproxy's New York, Virginia and Las Vegas options are the clearest on record. Plisio also saw a USA option on Proxyium. For a US IP you can keep, our paid US proxy picks list sellers with dated prices.

UK servers are harder to find. No source we read confirms a UK server on these seven picks, and the one UK option we found, VPNBook's, sits on Top10VPN's avoid list. UK readers can still use any of them; the exit simply sits in mainland Europe or the US.

Matching the Best Free Proxy Site to Your Task

Start from what you need to do, then pick the site whose catch you can live with.

Your Job Free Site to Try Why
Reading a public page with the fewest logs Hide.me web proxy No ads and no logs of your IP, per Top10VPN
Viewing a page as a US visitor ProxySite.com Numbered US servers to choose from
A page as seen from another country 4everproxy Server and IP location set separately
YouTube or social pages, nothing private CroxyProxy Handles media pages; logs what you open
An app or device asking for a proxy address Geonode free list Filter by protocol and country, then copy one
Anything with a login or payment No proxy site The operator can read what you type
A UK IP address None of these seven No UK server confirmed in our sources

Web proxies are ordinary web pages, so you open them the same way on Android, iPhone or a PC, with nothing to install. No source we read tested these seven on phones, so expect the odd page to misbehave.

Can Free Proxy Sites Play Videos?

Some can, with limits. IPFighter's guide and CroxyProxy's own store listing both say CroxyProxy handles YouTube. Top10VPN found it "worked with every site we tested". Plisio says Proxyium plays standard-definition clips. Top10VPN saw hide.me struggle with YouTube at times, and 4everproxy hands YouTube links to Invidious.

The only speed figures we found come from SoftwareTestingHelp, whose October 2026 table also rates Hidester, a proxy Top10VPN says closed in 2022. Treat smooth video through a free proxy as a bonus rather than a promise. Paid streaming services fall outside this guide; their own terms decide what they allow.

How to Use a Free Proxy Site on PC, Android and iPhone

A free online proxy of this kind needs no settings change on any device, because it lives inside one browser tab. The steps are the same in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari:

  1. Open a private or incognito window, so cookies vanish when you close it.
  2. Type the proxy site's address yourself instead of clicking an ad or an unfamiliar search result.
  3. Paste the link of the page you want into the site's address box.
  4. Pick a server or country if the site offers one, then start browsing.
  5. Stay signed out, and close the window when you finish.

Only pages opened through the proxy's box use it. Other tabs and apps keep your normal connection, and the CGIProxy homepage warns that "Anonymity MAY NOT BE PERFECT!!" because some page scripts can slip past a proxy.

Using a Proxy From a Free List on Windows, Mac, Android or iPhone

List proxies go into system or browser settings instead, so they can reach more than one tab. These paths follow each vendor's own help pages:

  • → Windows 10 and 11: Settings, then Network & internet, then Proxy, then Set up next to "Use a proxy server". Turn it on, enter the IP and port, then Save (Microsoft Support, updated September 28, 2026).
  • → Mac: Apple menu, then System Settings, then Network. Pick the network service, then Details, then Proxies, where HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS entries sit.
  • → Android (Pixel steps): open Settings, choose Network & internet and tap Internet. Tap the network, then Edit, then Advanced options, and pick the proxy configuration type. Our guide to what Android's proxy setting reaches explains which apps follow it.
  • → iPhone: in Wi-Fi settings, tap the info button next to your network to set an HTTP proxy. Our walkthrough of the iPhone proxy screen covers its Off, Manual and Automatic modes.
  • → Firefox: Settings, then General, then Network Settings, then Manual proxy configuration. Mozilla's policy reference confirms SOCKS versions 4 and 5.

Switch the setting off when you finish, or the apps that follow it keep routing through a stranger's server. When pages stop loading, a dead list entry is the usual first suspect.

What a Free Proxy Site's Operator Can See

A free proxy site suits public pages and is the wrong tool for anything private. HTTPS on a proxy site protects only the hop between your browser and the proxy. The proxy then decrypts each page to rewrite its links, so its operator can read everything you load.

The CGIProxy security notes, last updated in July 2017, come from the author of CGIProxy, a web proxy script first written in 1996. They say most proxies "let the proxy owner see the traffic that goes through it, including all passwords and other sensitive data."

A second risk is shared storage. Researchers from NTT and Waseda University showed at NDSS 2020 that web proxies serve every site from one origin, so rehosted pages "share the data in cookies and localStorage". They studied 11 web proxies in versions current as of September 2019, ProxySite and hide.me among them. In most, a malicious page could steal saved logins, and nothing we found shows whether any named site is still exposed.

Websites also see more than your new IP. Your fonts, screen size, language and time zone pass straight through, and shared proxy exits often sit in address ranges that sites flag. Reading a public page through a proxy is routine; typing a password into one is not. Our broader free proxy risk guide covers open proxies, extensions and more.

Safety Tips for Any Free Proxy Site

These habits do not make a free proxy site safe, but they cut what it can take from you.

  • → Never sign in or pay through a proxy. The operator can read what you type. Google and Facebook sign-ins may fail too: the docs for node-unblocker, a common proxy engine, say OAuth login forms are "not likely to work out of the box".
  • → Use a private window and close it afterward. The NDSS 2020 researchers call a browser's private mode an effective countermeasure, since stored site data goes when the window closes. The proxy still sees your real IP.
  • → Remember that only the proxied page is covered. Other tabs, apps and background updates use your normal connection.
  • → Type the address yourself. Lookalikes exist, such as proxysite.one, rated "Dangerous" in a June 2026 MalwareTips scan, and croxyproxy.rocks, whose ownership we could not confirm.
  • → Skip downloads. CroxyProxy caps file size, and ProxyOrb's terms, read October 31, 2026, warn that files passing through it "may be modified".
  • → Switch scripts off when the site offers it. Some pages will break, but the NDSS 2020 attacks needed scripts to run.
  • → Watch for WebRTC leaks. RFC 8828 covers proxies set on your device when direct internet access is allowed. It warns that WebRTC's STUN checks "will bypass the proxy and reveal the public IP address of the client". Our guide to finding and fixing WebRTC leaks covers the fixes.
  • → Use a VPN for whole-device cover. A web proxy protects one page at a time. The free options further down cover your whole browser or more.

Rules still apply behind a proxy. Many websites block proxy traffic, Wikimedia among them for editing, and schools and employers set their own network rules, so follow them.

Check a Free Proxy Site Yourself: Five Tests

These checks take a few minutes on your own device. Run the first on the proxy's domain directly. For the rest, paste TrustMyIP pages into the proxy's address box in a private window, then compare each result with a direct visit.

Free Proxy Site Self-Check

1 Read the certificate first

Inspect the proxy domain's certificate directly, not through the proxy. The checker reports the issuer, expiry date, chain and TLS version. A basic domain-validated certificate proves control of the domain, not who runs the site.

2 Watch your fingerprint pass through

Through the proxy, list what your browser still reveals. Its 24 rows cover canvas and audio hashes, fonts, screen, language and time zone. Rows that match a direct visit are ones the proxy left alone. The page notes that it cannot test for DNS leaks.

3 Look for a forwarded address

Through the proxy, check the headers it passes on. The page scans 15 HTTP headers on your connection and lists any forwarded IP it finds. If your home address shows up there, the page calls that proxy transparent.

4 Check which IP sites see

Paste trustmyip.com into the proxy's box. Our homepage should show the proxy's address, city and network instead of yours, and whether that address looks like a VPN, a proxy or a data center. The "Check The IP Sites See" button after the conclusion opens the same page directly for comparison.

5 Look for a WebRTC leak

Do the same with trustmyip.com/webrtc-leaks, and use the "Test For A WebRTC Leak" button below for the direct run. The test asks public STUN servers, Google's among them, which address your browser has. If your home IP appears through the proxy, that site does not block WebRTC.

One clean run is a snapshot of one server on one day. Proxy sites rotate servers and change their code, so repeat the checks whenever a site looks different.

Free Proxy Site or VPN? Free Alternatives Worth Knowing

A proxy site covers one tab and often has no named operator. A VPN app usually covers the whole device, though browser VPNs cover only the browser. When a web proxy is the wrong tool, these free options come from named companies or a nonprofit (terms read October and November 2026):

  • → Tor Browser: version 16.0 arrived on October 29, 2026, for Windows, macOS, Linux and Android. It relays traffic through three hops but runs slower, and some sites block it; Tor Browser set against a VPN covers the trade-offs.
  • → Opera's free VPN: built into the browser, with no account and no data cap. Opera says it "only protects your browsing within the Opera browser", and its feature page names the US, Singapore and the Netherlands.
  • → Microsoft Edge Secure Network: Microsoft offers "5 GB of free data every month" to people signed in to Edge with a personal Microsoft account. It runs with Cloudflare and is not offered in some regions.
  • → Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 with WARP: hides your IP from sites, yet Cloudflare's FAQ says the new IP still reflects your approximate location, so your country stays the same.

Each of these comes from a named company or nonprofit, unlike most free proxy sites. Tor's relays, though, are run by volunteers you cannot identify, so HTTPS still matters there.

Our Verdict on the Best Free Proxy Sites

For most people, hide.me's web proxy is the best free proxy site: no signup, no ads, a named VPN company and the lightest logging any source reports. ProxySite.com is the pick for US or EU servers, KProxy for ad-free pages if you can tolerate overloads, and 4everproxy for a specific country.

CroxyProxy, Proxyium and IPFighter are easy to use but keep records of what you open, so save them for pages you would happily share. For IP:port proxies, Geonode's list has the most filters of the lists we read, though most entries on any free list will not answer. If you need cover beyond one tab, our VPN versus proxy breakdown sets out the differences.

Whichever site you choose, stay signed out and run at least the two checks below through it before you rely on it. For other no-cost routes, see free ways to mask your IP. These records date from late October and early November 2026, so recheck a site's terms before trusting it with anything that matters.

Run Two Checks Through Any Proxy Site
Open both checks through the proxy site in a private window, then again without it. If your own IP appears in either result, that proxy is not covering you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q Which free proxy site is the best?

A
Hide.me's web proxy is the best free proxy site for most people. It needs no signup and comes from a named VPN company, and Top10VPN reports no ads and no logs of your real IP. ProxySite.com is better for US or EU servers, KProxy is an ad-free backup, and CroxyProxy handles video pages, per IPFighter's guide, but logs what you open.

Q Are free proxy sites safe?

A
They suit public pages and are risky for anything private. Even the best free proxy sites decrypt each page to rewrite it, so the operator can read what you load and type. Several log your IP and the pages you visit. Stay signed out, use a private window, never enter passwords or card details, and skip downloads through a proxy.

Q Can I use a free proxy site on Android or iPhone?

A
Yes, in most cases. A web proxy is an ordinary web page, so it opens in Chrome on Android or Safari on iPhone with nothing to install. Paste the link you want and browse in a private tab. Other apps keep your normal connection. A proxy set in Wi-Fi settings reaches more apps, though some apps ignore it.

Q Which free proxy sites work for YouTube and other videos?

A
CroxyProxy has the strongest record in our sources: IPFighter's guide and its own store listing name YouTube, and Top10VPN had no site fail on it. Plisio reports standard-definition playback on Proxyium. Hide.me had YouTube trouble at times, and 4everproxy redirects YouTube to Invidious. SoftwareTestingHelp gives the only speed figures we found for the best free proxy sites, but its table also rates Hidester, a closed service.

Q Do free proxy sites hide my IP address completely?

A
No. A proxy site swaps your IP only for pages opened in its box, and only toward those websites. The operator still sees your real IP, WebRTC can leak it if the site does not block it, and your browser fingerprint passes through. Many websites also spot shared proxy exits, so even the best free proxy sites can get flagged.

Q Do free proxy sites have US or UK servers?

A
US servers are easy to find; UK ones are rare. Top10VPN counts 20 numbered US servers on ProxySite.com and US cities on 4everproxy, and Plisio saw a USA option on Proxyium. No source we read confirms a UK server on our seven picks, and the one UK option we found, VPNBook's, sits on Top10VPN's avoid list. Geonode's free list filters by country.

Q Are free proxy sites legal?

A
In the US and UK, nothing we found bans them for ordinary browsing, but what you do still matters. Tom's Guide calls VPNs "completely legal in the US". The Internet Society reported in August 2026 that a UK minister ruled out "banning or age gating VPNs". Web proxies are a similar tool. Anything illegal without one stays illegal with one, and websites can ban proxies; this is not legal advice.
